Dear friends!
Welcome all participants of the United Cities Forum!
We are proud that the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, the beautiful Kazan, has become a place where representatives from all over the world have come together to present the best practices and exchange experience of the urban diplomacy sphere.
Cities are the engine of economic development, the centers
of global diversity and innovation, they play a key
role in building a sustainable future. And our common task is
to transform cities for a comfortable and safe life
of the population today and tomorrow.
The city itself is the basis of all transformations, and
municipal authorities must move from challenges to the development
of clear decisions, and then to the implementation of sustainable
development strategies on the zones. We may and must use our Forum platform to expand the dialogue between cities.

International relations allow us to implement unique projects and unite the cities interests. Kazan is an important center of international cooperation: we have concluded more than 60 twinning and partnership agreements and now we are interacting actively with Russian and foreign colleagues as part of various organizations of inter-municipal cooperation. We will be happy to share this experience with the participants of the United Cities Forum.
I hope that the Forum will become a major international event, connecting the world’s leading cities and allowing us to expand the horizons of international relations in the best interests of urban development.
